Lockheed Martin has successfully demonstrated a web-enabled tactical communications planner (TCP) as part of the US Army’s joint users interoperability communications exercise.

During the three-week exercise, TCP, integrated with 3D situational awareness, provided the soldiers with mobile, ad-hoc networking by using modelling and simulation tools and analysis algorithms.

Lockheed Martin IS&GS-Defence vice-president Mark Norris said the TCS demonstrated that the integrated capabilities can be automated to provide a flexible and pervasive networking capability.

In addition, the planner also showed how the warfighters can plan and coordinate tactical networks and communications systems in real-time.

Features of the TCS include a 3D map that provides geographic imaging of planned equipment locations and halps the forces to determine optimal placement.
