PLS features a long-term armour strategy (LTAS) compliant cab, a 600hp engine and a six-speed transmission.

The vehicle also uses TAK-4 independent suspension on the front axle positions for greater off-road mobility and enhanced protection in harsh terrain.

Under the family of heavy tactical vehicles (FHTV) contract, the US Army has ordered 725 PLS vehicles, according to Brahmand.

Production is scheduled to be complete in September 2011.
