The French battalion, part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), has replaced its tracked armoured personnel carriers (APCs) with new armoured infantry vehicles (VBCI).
The VBCI is a wheeled 8×8 cross-country armoured vehicle that can accommodate a two-person crew and 11 soldiers, providing operational and protection needs.

The battalion received 14 VBCIs and 74 lighter vehicles that will replace the 17 AMX 10 P tracked APCs currently being used, according to the Daily Star.
“The new wheeled VBCI will generate less noise and better protect the road surface than the older tracked APC,” UNIFIL said.
