The Czech Government plans to buy mine detectors and a US-built mine-disposal robot, TALON, for soldiers on foreign missions.

TALON is capable of travelling up stairs, moving on sand, in water and along snow, and can be controlled from a distance of up to 1km whilst being used to render unexploded grenades and mines harmless.

The Czech armed forces currently use the Viennese-built small mine detectors and are equipped with new CZ 805 assault rifles, according to the Prague Daily Monitor.

The Czech Defence Ministry purchased unmanned reconnaissance Ravena and Skylark II aircraft, Iveco armoured vehicles in 2009 to increase the safety of soldiers deployed on foreign missions.
