The French defence procurement agency, Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA), has awarded a contract to Eurocopter for the modernisation of four Cougar helicopters.
Out of the four upgraded Cougar helicopters, three will be delivered to the French army and one to the air force.

The contract is worth €220m ($294m).
The upgrade programme will modernise the avionics and self-protection equipment of the Cougar helicopters, and equip them with terminals for a new army aviation communications system.
The Cougar helicopter can transport up to 20 passengers by day and night, transport equipment and provide support to the rescue services during disasters.
