The first batch will consist of 150 of the container model and 50 recovery vehicles, which will be equipped with armoured cabins, according to Defense News.

Iveco’s 15t, eight-wheel-drive truck has been designed to operate on all surfaces and has been described as a highly manoeuvrable vehicle.

The contract is part of the Porteur Polyvalent Terrestre (PPT) programme to renew the army’s truck fleet, with the total number reported to be 2,000 trucks.

Deliveries of the vehicles will take place in 2013 and 2014, an official of the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) procurement office has said.
