Selex Galileo has been awarded a contract for €5.3m to supply two additional hostile artillery location (HALO) systems to a non-Nato export customer.

HALO is an acoustic weapon locating system that detects sound waves generated by explosions through unmanned sensor posts and uses data processing techniques to determine the exact location of enemy weapons.

The weapon locating system communicates information about the enemy to the troops to engage only the threat, without causing harm to the civilians.

The systems are currently in service with six major armed forces including the UK, the US and Canada.
