The US Army has signed a contract with Kongsberg and has increased the scope of the existing common remotely operated weapon stations (CROWS) framework II agreement.

With the latest Nkr345m ($58.8m) purchase order, the number of CROWS II systems has been increased from 10,349 to 11,690.

The increase will depend on the US Army’s future demand and annual allocations with an agreement due later this year.

The CROWS II programme is a joint acquisition programme for a remote-control weapon system that protects and enables military troops to acquire and engage targets from within the vehicle.

The initial CROWS II framework agreement was disclosed on 22 August 2007.
