The UK will formally review the recent licensing decisions for exports to Bahrain, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt has said.
“In light of events we are today formally reviewing recent licensing decisions for exports to Bahrain. We will urgently revoke licences if we judge that they are no longer in line with the criteria,” he added.

The FCO has approved a range of licences for Bahrain in the last nine months, which include two single export licences for 250 tear gas cartridges to the Bahrain Defence Force and National Security Agency.
The export licences for the tear gas cartridges were for trial / evaluation purposes.
The office had also approved a number of open individual export licences that include equipment to be used for riot control.
