Alliant Techsystems (ATK) has received a four-year, $54m contract to supply 120mm training tank ammunition to the US Army.

As per the $54m order, the 120mm training ammunition includes the M865 kinetic energy and the M1002 multipurpose anti-tank training rounds for the M1A1/A2 Abrams main battle tank.

The training rounds resemble tactical ammunition in appearance and ballistic performance to provide the warfighter with a cost effective and realistic training experience.

The company has delivered more than four million rounds of training tank ammunition to the US Army, as well as the US Marine Corps and allied militaries.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, US with propellants for tank ammunition being produced at ATK’s Radford army ammunition plant in Virginia, US.
