The US Army TACOM has awarded a firm-fixed-price contract to Critical Solutions International for the procurement of vehicle-mounted mine-detection systems.

Under the $214.2m contract, the company will provide 118 MKK II type II mine-detection systems.

The system is a commercial product designed for use in harsh terrains for fast and efficient route clearance and to create safe passage for military and civilian personnel and vehicles.

The system also has the ability to pass over pressure fused anti-vehicle landmines without detonating them.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Gauteng, South Africa, with an estimated completion date of 16 October 2012.
