ATK has received new contracts from allied forces for medium-calibre 25mm M242 Bushmaster and 30mm/40mm mk44 Bushmaster automatic cannon systems.

The 25mm cannon features dual-feed chain gun technology and comprises a gun barrel, drive motor, recoil system and integral dual feeder.

The 30mm/40mm mk44 cannon can fire all types of 30mm × 173mm ammunition, and can be reconfigured to fire Super Forty 40mm ammunition.

The medium-calibre cannons are the primary gun systems for the Bradley fighting vehicle, the light armoured vehicle, and the Apache attack helicopter.

More than 11,000 25mm cannons are currently in service worldwide, and the 30mm/40mm mk44 is the weapon of choice for ground combat vehicles, naval and aircraft applications.

Work on the contracts will be carried out at the company’s facility in Arizona, US with deliveries to begin by early 2012 and expected to be completed by 2015.
