The Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has awarded a contract to ST Kinetics to supply new-generation Spider light strike vehicles (Spider LSV) and spares.

The S$68m contract has been won through an international tender.

The Spider LSV incorporates electronic controlled engine, a four-speed automatic transmission and an enhanced suspension system that is capable of high cross-country manoeuvrability.

The heli-portable LSV has been designed with a centre drive configuration to allow weapon systems to be mounted on both sides of the driver and can accommodate a crew of six.

Delivery of the vehicles is expected to take place in 2013-14.
