Boeing has submitted a multiyear contract proposal to the US Army for the production and delivery of 155 CH-47F helicopters.

The second five-year, firm fixed-price proposal will not only provide the war-fighter with vertical lift capability, but will also help the army reach its 464 Chinook acquisition target outlined in the CH-47F helicopter programme.

The company has trained and equipped eight US Army units with the helicopter to date and is currently equipping the ninth unit.

The helicopter is used by the army to conduct air assault, transport, medical evacuations and support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
