General Dynamics (GD) Land Systems has received a $395m contract from the US TACOM Lifecycle Management Command as part of the Egyptian M1A1 Abrams tank co-production programme.
Under the contract, the company will manufacture and deliver 125 Abrams tank kits to a production facility near Cairo, Egypt.

The award supports the 11th increment of the programme and will increase the number of tanks to 1,130.
Work under the contract will be conducted at the company’s facilities in Alaska, Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, US.
Deliveries will commence in 2013 and will sustain through 2016.
