Antonino dos Santos Guerra Neto, commanding officer brigadier general for the Brazilian Army’s Center for Communications and Electronic Warfare, said: ”The implementation of the second upgrade phase of the Third Division tactical communications system (SISTAC/3rd Division) is the result of a continuous process of technological renewal and investment adjustment within the command and control area.”

Upgrade work under the contract is scheduled to be complete for the beginning of 2013.

"The implementation of the second upgrade phase is the result of a continuous process of technological renewal and investment adjustment within the command and control area.”

Representing the first important step toward the implementation of network enabled capabilities within the Brazilian Army, the upgrade will enable use of SISTAC advanced radio links, multi-service switch routers, crypto devices, as well as an advanced network management system, creating a data-focused architecture, according to the company.

The SISTAC is a shelter-based system for tactical communications used by the 1st Battalion of St Angelo Communications Rio Grande do Sul since 1998 to provide support for the Brazilian Army’s Third Division.
