Under the new extension, the company will continue to provide its systems integration and product development services that offer turn-key communications solutions in support of a broad spectrum of army missions across the globe.

Globecomm Government Business vice president Dwight Hunsicker said, ”This period of performance completion date extension provides Globecomm with the ability to continue providing much-needed equipment to PM WIN-T in support of a wide variety of mission requirements required of their End-Users until other contract vehicles like Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems (GTACS) are awarded.”

Originally issued in 2006, the WWSS contract is a collaboration between the project manager, defence communications and army transmission systems (PM DCATS) and the project manager, war-fighter information network-tactical (PM WIN-T).

Managed by PM WIN-T Joint Program Management Office, the WWSS aims to acquire six satellite terminals, along with associated support services for delivering timely, efficient and responsive support for deployed war-fighters.

The company also received multiple contracts from an unidentified US government agency for delivery of mission-critical equipment to soldiers on the battlefield.

With an initial value of $5m, the contract also includes options that will bring the maximum value to approximately $7.8m if exercised.
