Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has reportedly unveiled a homegrown ballistic missile launching system.

Tasnim news agency reported that the airforce manufactured the automated and smart system, which is used for launching the several long-range ballistic missiles.

During the unveiling ceremony, IRGC commander Hossein Salami said: “Our missile power guarantees the withdrawal of enemies.”

Iran has produced many different ballistic missiles and aerospace military gear in the past few years.

In September, IRGC opened the National Aerospace Park in a bid to showcase the aerospace achievements through a permanent exhibition venue.

The US Government has urged Iran to stop the ballistic missile development programme. However, Iran has rejected this demand.

In a separate development, Iran’s military used bomb-equipped drones during army exercises, reported Islamic Republic News Agency.

This marks the first time where the country used the drones during army exercises.

Karrar, an unmanned aircraft, dropped the bombs on the ground targets, said spokesman Brigadier General Farhad Goudarzi.

In August, it was reported that Russia and Iran were working together to gradually restore military cooperation after Covid-19 related restrictions temporarily halted activities.

In July, IRGC launched underground ballistic missiles targeting a fake US aircraft carrier in the Strait of Hormuz as part of a drill.

The two missiles were launched on 29 July from what seemed to be central Iran’s desert plateau. However, the precise geographic location was disclosed.
