CACI International has been awarded a contract to provide support services for the US Army’s Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) Command, Power, and Integration Directorate’s (CP&ID) rapid prototyping and technology insertion programmes.

The five-year indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a maximum potential value of $247m for the two prime contractors, and includes a one-year performance period and four one-year options.

Under the contract, the company will conduct prototyping and installation of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems into multiple platforms used by all US Armed Forces.

Additional responsibilities include performing research, development, and execution of new army/joint mission command/command and control concepts and technologies.

In addition, it will also feature research and production of technologies leading to more portable and cost-efficient power sources for use by deployed troops worldwide.

CACI chief operating officer and US operations president John Mengucci said the CERDEC’s Command, Power, and Integration Directorate had served as the core business client for the company’s C4ISR team for the past several years.

CACI president and chief executive officer Dan Allen said the important component of the contract work includes efficient processing and dissemination of information to forward operating forces.

"This positions us for continued growth in our C4ISR market segment and aligns with our corporate mission to provide comprehensive information solutions and services for all our government clients," Allen added.

Work under the contract is scheduled to be carried out at the company’s and CERDEC facilities at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, US.
