DCGS-A consists of both software and hardware, supporting the intelligence combat function.

It serves as the US Army’s intelligence system for sensor tasking, processing, exploitation and dissemination (PED).

DCGS-A offers relevant and accurate data to soldiers and allows commanders to receive intelligence information from multiple sources on the battlefield.

Under the order, BAE will support the programme with its intelligence knowledge environment (IKE) software framework.

Using modular data and artificial intelligence analytic capabilities, IKE is capable of converting information into knowledge autonomously.

The company developed the framework at its San Diego site in California, US.

BAE Systems C4ISR Systems vice-president and general manager Dave Logan said: “With a focus on a user-centric analyst experience, IKE rapidly transforms data into intelligence in an easy to learn and scalable manner.

“It helps analysts translate information into actionable intelligence using a collection of tools, some interactive, others that operate autonomously, to enhance the effectiveness of the analyst.”

BAE noted that the army will be able to quickly integrate new technology upgrades into DCGS with the Capability Drop development model.
