Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded a contract by the Army Engineering and Support Center Huntsville (CEHNC) to provide maintenance and support services for the US Army’s physical/electronic security systems (PSS/ESS).

With a maximum potential value of $315m for all ten awardees, the multiple-award indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a one-year base performance period and four one-year options.

The contract covers a wide range of support services for the access control point (ACP), electronic and physical security systems, utility monitoring and control systems (UMCS), and a variety of other associated electronic systems.

SAIC senior vice president and group general manager John Thomas said the company was looking to deliver maintenance and services for the army’s physical and electronic security systems, eventually facilitating critical protection of people, assets and information worldwide.

Specifically, the company will provide scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and replacement modernisation, equipment inventories, condition assessments, as well as identification and validation of problems and deficiencies.

Additional responsibilities include preparation and implementation of work plans for repair of failed or failing systems, facility management support, project management, central monitoring services, and other activities associated with operation, maintenance and repair programmes.

The CEHNC is a specialised agency of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and supports the army’s ordnance and explosives, engineering, chemical demilitarisation programmes, ballistic missile defence, installation support, theater construction management system (TCMS), as well as the Environmental and Munitions Center of Expertise.

Work under the contract is scheduled to be complete by 2017.
