Electronic parts supplier Palomar Display Products has won a contract from the US Army Contracting Command for the production of Biocular Image Control Unit (BICU) gunner displays for M1A2 Abrams tanks.
Under the $89.2m firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), the company will also deliver associated spares parts, repairs and engineering services to the US Army.

The contract also includes up to two-year optional extension for ordering and delivering these displays and services.
Developed and designed with optically coupled BICU displays, the units have been qualified for the M1A2 Abrams tank.
The display systems are expected to be delivered to the US Army over a period of five years until 2025.
Palomar Display Products president Paul Bell said: “This award is a follow on to the previous $78m five-year contract that has been recently fulfilled.

In November last year, Palomar Display Products secured two contracts totalling more than $6.2m to deliver military display systems and spare display parts for the M1A2 Abrams tank fire control system.
The display systems will be delivered to the US Army during 2021.
In August the same year, the company received three contracts to deliver military display systems for the M1A Abrams tank and Bradley M2/M3 Fighting Vehicle.
