Ottawa-headquartered company Calian Group has won a contract to support cybersecurity initiatives of Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND).

The three-year contract is valued at $22m and has one optional year for an extension.

Calian will continue to provide consulting services for informatics and cybersecurity.

Calian Cyber Security Solutions director Bill Dunnion said: “Some of the top threats to governments and national security are cyber threats, which are becoming more sophisticated.

“At Calian we are honoured to continue to support the safety and security of IT systems, services and networks for DND.”

The contract will also include additional services such as project management, change management and network security.

The company will be further responsible for providing information technology (IT) security vulnerability assessments, IT security system operations, and incident management.

Delivery is anticipated to commence from next month.

In November 2018, Calian Group won a contract to provide significant training and support services for Canada’s DND and the Canadian Army Simulation Centre (CASC).

The initial term of the training and support services contract is valued at $93m over a period of five years.
