The US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has awarded a $500m tactical local area network (TACLAN) recompete contract to iGov to produce a tactical computer network.

Extending iGov’s role as the prime contractor for the next ten years, the contract involves delivering system acquisition, design, integration, production, logistics, and sustainment support for a Taclan family of systems.

iGov chairman and CEO Patrick Neven said: "We’re proud to continue as part of the TACLAN programme to support the warfighter with a wide range of critical technologies, and providing a vital technology tool."

The single award indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract comes with a three-year base period of performance and includes two one-year options.

Designed as a modular, scalable family of networks, Taclan provides command, control, communications, computers and intelligence automated system (C4IAS) to interconnect the tactical user, including soldiers and teams or joint task force at the headquarters level.

Delivering a flexible interface to communications, databases, and mission applications for the user, Taclan extends the equivalent fixed base garrison C4 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) architecture worldwide.

iGov Taclan programme management vice president Manning Bolchoz said that the company and Team Taclan would provide continued IT and C4 services support to enable USSOCOM’s Special Operations Forces to optimise delivery, performance, and maintenance of the entire Taclan line of systems.

Work under the contract will be carried out in Tampa, Florida, while the US Special Operations Command in MacDill Air Force Base will serve as the contracting activity.

iGov is also supporting the US Marine Corps (USMC) Tactical Collaborative Work Suite (TCWS) and Combat Operations Center (COC) contracts.
