Z Microsystems has been awarded a contract to supply rugged military displays in support of the US Army’s ongoing ground combat vehicle (GCV) infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) development programme.

Awarded by Northrop Grumman, the full term contract, whose value remain undisclosed, includes delivery of seven displays for each vehicle.

Resistant to moisture, dust and debris, the company’s fully sealed mission display leverages advanced engineering methods and components to offer the ideal ruggedised viewing solution for extreme deployed vehicle environments, the company claims.
The display’s physical chassis design is specialised to promote optimal thermal management, while the widescreen panel is expected to feature intuitive touch-activated controls for maximised viewing space in a low profile footprint.

By GlobalDataShipments have already started to BAE Systems-Northrop team, which is one of two industry leading groups currently working on GCV programme’s technology development (TD) contract, in mid 2013.
Awarded by the US Army in August 2011, the 24-month $449.9m TD contract is focused on maturing the GCV proposal through the preliminary design review (PDR) in anticipation of prototype production during the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase.
Also pursued by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS)-led team, the $40bn GCV IFV programme seeks development of an affordable and operationally effective IFV that can carry a nine-man infantry team with increased protection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and modern warfare threats on the battlefield.
