Shipments have already started to BAE Systems-Northrop team, which is one of two industry leading groups currently working on GCV programme’s technology development (TD) contract, in mid 2013.

Awarded by the US Army in August 2011, the 24-month $449.9m TD contract is focused on maturing the GCV proposal through the preliminary design review (PDR) in anticipation of prototype production during the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase.

Also pursued by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS)-led team, the $40bn GCV IFV programme seeks development of an affordable and operationally effective IFV that can carry a nine-man infantry team with increased protection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and modern warfare threats on the battlefield.
