German company Hensoldt has acquired Australian radar solutions and services provider IE Asia-Pacific to expand its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.

Following the acquisition, IE Asia-Pacific now operates as Hensoldt Australia.

The transaction’s details have not been revealed by the parties.

Hensoldt CEO Thomas Müller said: “The local support of our customers in Australia and in the Asia Pacific markets is extremely important to Hensoldt.

“Hensoldt Australia is a part of our Global Customer Support & Services business and provides our customers with unparalleled radar solutions and systems support.”

Hensoldt Australia serves the Australian Defense Force and other agencies. The company specialises in radar support, testing, training and installation services.

Headquartered in Canberra, the company employs more than 20 staff. Hensoldt Australia generates revenues of more than €4m per year.

Hensoldt Australia Operations general manager Darren Gillam said: “We are excited to join Hensoldt, to contribute to the company’s global growth and to further expand the support of our customers.”

The German firm is a provider of radars, electronic warfare systems, electro-optronic devices and air traffic control equipment.

The company stated that the Australian business will provide support to its products to improve services and support for customers in the country and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The acquisition comes after Hensoldt bought French electronic equipment and solutions provider Nexeya to strengthen presence in France.

The transaction provides complementary product portfolios and improves customer access for Hensoldt.

Nexeya serves aircraft original equipment manufacturers in civil and military markets.
