Spread across 45,170ft² on a 15-acre site, the facility will host the 117th Space Battalion of the Colorado Army National Guard (CO ARNG).

It will also be home to two companies involved in providing satellite transmitted digital imagery for warfighting operations.

Army National Guard 117th Space Battalion commander lieutenant colonel Michael Lane said: “This facility will serve as a state-of-the-art epicentre of Army National Guard Space Operations.

“We will train, learn, improve and, if necessary, operate from this location to support warfighters across the world. A training ground will allow space forces to conduct continuous global space force enhancements, space support, space control, and contingency activity.

The facility will also have mission-oriented team collaboration centres, workstations, and equipment storage space.
