The 55th Contracting Squadron has awarded a US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) contract to Leidos to provide software development and sustainment.

Under the single-award and indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract, Leidos will provide war-planning solutions and enhancements while upgrading the system architectures to support operational war-planning and targeting solutions.

Leidos group president John Fratamico said: "Leidos is committed to the mission of USSTRATCOM in providing continued strategic war planning solutions."

Awarded under the National Target Base/National Desired Ground Zero List Integrated Development System (NIDS III), the contract has one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, a six-month final period and is valued at $35m if all options are exercised.

"Under the $11m contract, Leidos will develop and provide the operational training terrain databases, common cultural and moving models, and virtual simulation architecture connectivity to address operational training requirements for troops."

Work under the contract will be carried out in San Diego, California and Omaha, Nebraska, US.

In coordination with other Combatant Commands, Services and appropriate US Government agencies, USSTRATCOM performs global operations to deter and detect strategic attacks against the US and its allies, while being prepared to defend the nation as directed.

Separately, the company has also received a contract from the US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) to provide development of a live virtual and constructive integrated training environment.

Under the $11m contract, Leidos will develop and provide the operational training terrain databases, common cultural and moving models, and virtual simulation architecture connectivity to address operational training requirements for troops.

The second follow on contract of four options has one-year period of performance while the work will be carried out in Orlando, Florida, US.
