Perspecta has obtained a contract to support the continued modernisation of the US National Background Investigation Service (NBIS).

The other transaction agreement was awarded by the Defense Security Service (DSS) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

The award is valid for two years with a potential ceiling value of around $75m.

NBIS is a federal-wide information technology (IT) service that is used to perform background checks on all federal civilians, military members, and government contractors.

The service covers suitability, security, and credentialing investigations. DISA is responsible for providing design, build, testing, fielding, operation, maintenance, and security for the NBIS.

Perspecta will be required to update and rebuild the personnel security vetting and adjudication technology apparatus of the US Department of Defense (DoD).

Using an innovative delivery model, the programme will seek to make the personnel security clearance process faster, scalable and more secure.

To deliver the contracted work, Perspecta will combine commercial-off-the-shelf solutions with its advanced data analytics capabilities to deliver a more agile process to support DSS’ needs.

The company will also leverage its expertise in big data, Cloud, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The firm has entered a partnership with Torch Research, C3.ai, Pegasystems, CA Technologies, Accenture Federal Services, Prime Technical Services, and Next Tier Concepts to perform the contracted work.

Recently, Perspecta was awarded a contract to provide cyber electronic warfare support to the US Army under the R4 programme.
