Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group (ADG) has been awarded a contract modification for the delivery of additional shelters for the UK Army’s geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) systems.
Awarded by Lockheed Martin UK, the agreement provides additional field-deployable GEOINT (FDG) systems, such as a forward map distribution point (FMDP), tactical map distribution points (TMDP) and tactical information and geospatial analysis system (TIGAS).

Lockheed Martin UK leads the Team Socrates, which is under contract to supply GEOINT systems to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group chief executive Steve Fitz-Gerald said the contract follows the successful delivery and achievement of the initial operating capability (IOC), and confirms Team Socrates and the company’s capability to build and integrate complex shelter systems.
"At the core of our solution for the team has been a common, modular design which can be easily expanded to meet future requirements," Fitz-Gerald said.
Marshall ADG, as part of Team Socrates, is responsible for the design, production and provision of integrated logistics for the shelters, which are fitted onto MOWAG Duro II 6X6 vehicles that provide a two person tactical working environment and form TIGAS.

By GlobalDataIn addition, some of the shelters are also used as TMDP, staffed by two personnel.
The FDG system is designed to provide UK soldiers with field deployable GEOINT exploitation and map production capabilities, which support strategic to tactical level missions.
The system, which has been developed for the UK’s joint force intelligence group (JFIG), enables commanders to dynamically and quickly brief and equip their frontline troops for operations through an up-to-date, customised and digital GEOINT.
Team Socrates also includes Marshall Land Systems, SCISYS, KNK, Polaris Consulting and Safety Assurance Services.
