Meggitt Training Systems has started the delivery of targeting equipment to the US Army in support of its training programme.
The programme is designed to allow the US and allied troops to practise and enhance their combat skills.

Last year, the company received five orders worth $4.26m from the US Army Tank-automotive & Armaments Command.
The delivery orders were awarded as part of the five-year Army Targetry Systems III indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract.
Meggitt live-fire systems director Jon Read said: “Meggitt Training Systems has won more delivery orders through all three Army Targetry Systems’ contracts since 2002 than anyone.
“Our success in capturing this business is based on the experience of fielding more than 75,000 infantry target systems at 122 military bases around the world.”

By GlobalDataUnder the orders, the company will equip an automated record fire range and a combat pistol qualification course with stationary infantry targets (SITs) at Camp Perry, Ohio, US.
The company will also install SITs in the US for a combat pistol qualification course and modified record fire (MRF) range at Camp Grafton, North Dakota, two MRF ranges at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, and an automated record fire range at Camp Williams, Utah.
Furthermore, SITs, stationary armour targets, moving infantry targets and moving armour targets will be fitted for an infantry platoon battle course and a multipurpose training range at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, US.
Meggitt targeting equipment is designed to add realism to the training. The lightweight and portable SIT is a remote-controlled pop-up target actuator free of hydraulic fluids, contaminants or hazardous toxins.
Designed to be adaptable to different kinds of range environments, infrastructures and operational controls, SIT is capable of performing commands that include ‘expose, conceal, hit-fall, hit-hold and hit-bob’.
In March last year, the US Department of Defense announced that Meggitt Training Systems, Saab Defense and Security, Strategic Systems, Sius Target Systems USA, and Theissen Training Systems will share in a $125m firm-fixed-price contract for the Army Targetry Systems programme.
