Britannica Knowledge Systems has been awarded a contract to supply a training management system to oversee the training, resources, scheduling, competency, qualification and learning processes of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Under the $9m agreement, Britannica will provide an upgraded version of its Fox training management system, which is capable of adopting a wider range of components for the IDF.

Additional responsibilities include professional services, implementation, customisation and maintenance and support.
Israel Ministry of Defense Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Intelligence Purchasing senior deputy director Eliezer Hasson said: "This training management system will lead the IDF into the future and the era of computerised information management."
Britannica Business Development vice-president Miki Ringelhim said: "One of the most advanced defence forces in the world will now be fully augmented by one of the most innovative training management systems on the market today."
IDF is expected to use Fox for training planning, multi-faceted scheduling management, human / physical resource allocation, lodging and catering coordination, qualification, learning and course management, training evaluation and knowledge assessment, and personal record keeping, as well as training analysis and control.

By GlobalDataScheduled to be implemented across the IDF within a year, it will serve as a central component of the new military training complex currently being built in southern Israel, which is expected to train tens of thousands of military personnel.
The Israeli military currently uses a previous version of the Fox system, which has been provided by Britannica since 2000.
Fox, which is a web-based system, enables global training establishments and centres and military organisations to increase operational efficiency and improve training throughput and effectiveness, while continuously expanding optimal proficiency and readiness levels.
