Australian Defence Minister Christopher Pyne has announced the launch of the latest T-2000 turret, designed for use on armoured vehicles.
The global launch of the advanced turret was announced by Pyne along with Defence Industry Minister Steven Ciobo at the Avalon Air show.

Developed by Australian firm Electro Optic Systems (EOS) in collaboration with Israeli company Elbit Systems, the T-2000 turret has been integrated with EOS surveillance-grade sensors and advanced technology.
Pyne said: “This latest development and successful collaboration is an example of Australia’s growing defence industry capabilities. EOS is a fantastic Australian success story, producing advanced remote weapons systems and sensors for export and use by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and our friends and allies.”
Fitted with a 30mm cannon, a 7.62 co-axial machine gun, and two anti-armour missiles, the turret can be manned or unmanned.
The T-2000 turret will be manufactured in Australia, initially in Canberra, starting later this year and will be produced for export.

By GlobalDataProduction of the turret is expected to create ten new jobs. EOS is also exploring options for the construction of a permanent plant for turret manufacturing.
Around 70 jobs are likely to be created once the location for the new plant is decided, which could include South Australia and Queensland.
Ciobo said: “This new turret is at the cutting edge of technology and has great potential for export around the world. It stands as a reminder that Australia’s defence industry is among the very best.”
