VSTEP has handed over an advanced maritime simulator classroom to the maritime section of the Australian Army.
Purchased after an enquiry from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Bohemia Interactive Simulations, the simulator has been installed at the army’s base in Townsville, Queensland.

Equipped with 12 Nautis desktop trainers and two Nautis instructor stations, the maritime simulator classroom will be used for landing craft operations and navigation training.
VSTEP sales director Joost van Ree said: "Supplying the Australian Army with maritime simulators to realise its high-end simulator classroom and fulfil its training objectives was a priority for us.
"The VSTEP simulators provide the Australian Army with a very effective training tool for naval and landing craft operations, due to their integrated naval task force module."
The simulators also use the Nautis naval task force software module, which is a training module primarily designed to address the training requirements of the Australian military.

By GlobalDataThe module includes tactical communications and landing craft operations, as well as replenishment at-sea and anti-piracy training.
In an effort to maximise familiarisation during training, the company has also modelled and integrated the Townsville base and surrounding waterways into the Nautis simulators.
Featuring a full range of simulators, from desktop trainer to full mission bridge, VSTEP’s Nautis maritime simulators fulfil training requirements in full compliance with the latest international maritime standards and regulations, including the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.
In July, the company also secured a contract to supply class-A Nautis full-mission bridge simulators and Nautis desktop-trainer stations to the Mexican Navy.
