The contract is expected to allow the army to finish upgrading their entire inventory of Patriot systems.

Batteries upgraded with RDP kits will help detect and identify targets with enhanced surveillance.

Upgraded batteries will also reduce maintenance and operation costs, and have a 40% higher reliability rate than systems with the legacy component.

Raytheon vice-president Ralph Acaba said: "When one country develops an upgrade or improvement to Patriot, that capability is made available to the entire 13-nation partnership.
