The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has awarded a cyber-security contract to Northrop Grumman M5 Network Security for the JP2068 Phase 2B.2 project.

The JP2068 is a multi-phased project designed to enhance the management, monitoring, and security of defence force communications networks and information systems.

It is expected to improve the capabilities of the Defence Network Operation Centre.

Phase 2B.2 aims to reduce the vulnerability of DoD’s information systems by providing advanced computer network defence (CND) hardware and software.

"This contract marks the formalisation of a partnership between defence and Northrop Grumman Australia."

It is expected to improve CND technology, and allow for better protection of DoD’s core information systems against intrusions.

Northrop Grumman Australia CEO Ian Irving said: "This contract marks the formalisation of a partnership between defence and Northrop Grumman Australia as a trusted cyber systems integrator with the ability to deliver enhanced cyber-security to defence."

Northrop Grumman M5 Network Security provides cyber-security services to military, government, and large corporations.

The company recently won a US Air Force contract to build long-range stealth bombers.

It will design and build a classified bomber fleet as part of an $80bn project, which is expected to create 1,500 jobs in Brevard County, Florida, US.
