The US Army’s Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) has already provided Navitas with funding to develop 24V Gen 1 lithium-ion 6T batteries.

As part of the new deal, the firm will deliver manufacturable beta versions of the Gen 2 batteries, which can be used in both legacy and advanced military vehicle systems.

The new batteries will be developed with higher cold-cranking capability, and increased energy density.

“It is an honour and a privilege to receive the NAMC award, which is focused on the development of a breakthrough Gen 2 6T battery.”

Navitas will deliver the batteries to Oshkosh Defense for in-vehicle integration and testing, which will be carried out at the Global Technology Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, US.
