Harris Corporation (HRS) has received an $800m contract to provide expeditionary warfare products and services to the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL).

The five-year, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract was awarded under the advanced expeditionary warfare development (AEWD) contract vehicle.

Expeditionary warfare involves the rapid deployment of military forces in a bid to respond to specific threats.

The AEWD contract vehicle provides research and advanced technology for demonstration, validation and operations in expeditionary and Special Forces operations.

The US Army Research Development and Engineering Command’s (RDECOM) ARL is the army’s central laboratory, which aims to develop advanced technology for government agencies to counter threats.

Harris Critical Networks president Carl D’Alessandro said: "The contract will provide the kind of mobility and situational awareness our forces need to combat the ever-changing threat environment we face around the world.

In October, the US Army placed orders with Harris to deliver high-frequency (HF) tactical radio antennas.

Harris will supply RF-3134 HF full-loop antennas, which can be used for fixed installations or on vehicles to enable mobile HF communications.
