Textron Marine & Land Systems has secured a contract to supply three survivable combat tactical vehicles (SCTV) to Ukraine.

Signed with Ukroboronprom’s subsidiary SpetsTechnoExport (STE), the contract is part of an effort to modernise the light tactical vehicle fleet of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).

UOP director general Roman Romanov said: "The Marine & Land Systems SCTV will provide significant improvement to performance and durability for Ukrainian High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), as well as enhancing crew protection.

"More specifically, the SCTV will provide a strengthened chassis and improved anti-mine and ballistic protection similar to that of mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) protection, which is designed specifically to withstand improvised explosive device attacks and ambushes."

The SCTV features a V-shaped, fully armoured monocoque hull, and is designed to provide high levels of protection to soldiers.

It is capable of dealing with asymmetric battlefield threats, and carrying out fire support, command and control, reconnaissance, engineer support and troop transport missions.

The SCTV comprises three modular upgrade kits that provide improved protection, restore lost vehicle performance, and extend the vehicle’s lifespan.

The upgrades can be integrated on all HMMWV variants. Retrofits can be carried out quickly, and use existing spare equipment and systems.
