Controp Precision Technologies, a provider of electro-optics (EO) and infrared (IR) defence solutions, has secured a contract to supply FTA optronic sensor systems for the Indian Army’s Air Defense Systems programme.

The company will provide a ruggedised day / night sensor solution, featuring an advanced automatic air tracking system, to upgrade the L-70 air defence gun.

The contract also covers the supply of a FOX-250, a high-performance thermal imaging camera, and a high-performance colour CCD day camera, each with a continuous optical zoom lens.

Controp Precision Technologies marketing vice-president Johnny Carni said: "The Indian Army chose our FTA System following very successful field trials and is enthusiastic due to the outstanding performance of these optronic systems in harsh environmental conditions."

In a separate development, Controp supplied FOX thermal imaging cameras, interfaced with a weapon station and fire control radar, to an India-based public sector undertaking (PSU) systems’ integrator, as part of the new naval fire control systems programmes.

In February, the company secured a contract to supply 90 advanced Shapo systems for a Nato army’s patrol vehicles.

Shapo is an ultra-lightweight, gyro-stabilised, EO / IR, day / night observation system, which is designed for flexible EO payload deployment on multi-mission patrol vehicles.

The system includes a thermal imaging camera with a continuous zoom lens, advanced image enhancement, an automatic target tracker, and picture-in-picture technology.
