US-based advanced communication and network technology provider Comtech Telecommunications has secured a $14.3m contract to provide communications solutions for the US Department of Defense (DoD).

The solutions will enhance multimedia capabilities by enabling the transmission of classified information via encrypted voice, video and data communications.

The company will also provide field support for ground satellite terminals, as well as training solutions.

Comtech Telecommunications CEO and president Dr Stanton Sloane said: "The US military depends on having advanced communications solutions.

In March, the company secured a contract from the US Government to provide satellite communications infrastructure equipment.

Valued at $1.6m, the contract was awarded to the company’s Arizona-based subsidiary Comtech EF Data, and covered the provision of up and down frequency converters for infrastructure to be deployed in the government’s network.

The company was also awarded $1.9m in equipment orders to upgrade satellite connectivity network in India.

Comtech’s advanced communication solutions include the heights networking platform, advanced VSAT applications, modems, ran and wan optimisation, network and bandwidth management and radio frequency products.
