RADA Electronic Industries is to supply its multi-mission hemispheric radar-based (MHR) RPS-42 radar system to an undisclosed Far-East country.
The company's MHR system will be used for the development and testing of a high-energy laser (HEL) ground-based tactical weapon system.

RADA CEO Dov Sella said: "We have developed the MHR to meet the highest requirements of tactical, land-based force protection solutions. The high-energy laser market is gradually being recognised as the weapon for the future, and we are very happy to be involved in a continuously growing number of such programmes.
“There are about ten HEL development programmes in the Western world; and we are currently involved in four such programmes, as well as being in advanced discussions with additional four integrators in the Far East, Europe and the US.”
The latest order is the company's fourth involving the supply of MHR for HEL weapon systems.
The ground-based tactical HEL systems are capable of producing precise and tailored effects against multiple targets.

By GlobalDataThese systems also support ‘speed-of-light’ responsiveness and have deep magazines, RADA said in a statement.
The HEL systems can be used against tactical, low-cost and short-range threats, which pose risk to manoeuvre force, such as rockets, mortars (C-RAM mission) and UAVs (C-UAV mission).
The MHR is currently integrated into the US Navy / Marine Corps GBAD HEL programme, the Lockheed Martin Athena HEL programme, and Boeing's HEL-MD and Silent Strike programmes.
