Indonesian state-owned company PT Pindad has signed a contract with Ireland's Timoney to upgrade the Badak 6×6 fire support vehicle.

During the upgrade, the vehicle will be fitted with a customised Timoney modular driveline, a transfer case and a steering system.

The Badak is fitted with a CMI Defence two-man turret to provide direct fire support for deployed troops, as well as a monocoque hull and an independent suspension system.

In addition, the vehicle's power-pack solution has a special front-mounted transfer box on its first axle, providing more space to house its turret system.

Based on modular designs, Timoney driveline solutions can be customised to suit individual vehicle needs.

The fire support vehicle has a length of 6m, a width of 2.5m, and a height of 2.9m.

It features VHF / HF radio communications, intercom, air-conditioning and heating systems, and a global positioning system (GPS).

The vehicle's 340hp six-cylinder diesel engine is coupled with a fully-automatic transmission system, with six forward gears and a reverse gear.
