The Estonian Centre for Defence Investment (ECDI) has awarded a contract to BAE Systems Hägglunds for the maintenance of the country's fleet of CV9035 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs).
The contracts signed with the Estonian Government cover 44 CV9035 vehicles, which were acquired from the Netherlands in 2014.

Under the long-term agreements, BAE will provide configuration management for new IFV capabilities, as well as carry out maintenance, repairs, and spare parts.
ECDI procurement department project manager Margus Padjus said: “The armoured manoeuvring capability programme is one of the most important capability development projects of the last decade in Estonia, which will increase the combat capability of Estonian Defence Forces remarkably.”
ECDI entered into the long-lasting life-cycle support contract with BAE to ensure use of the vehicles would be as efficient as possible.

Estonia is one of seven nations, including four Nato allies, that is currently operating more than 1,200 CV90s.
The CV9035 is armed with a Bushmaster III 35/50 cannon, Saab UTAAS fire control system with ammunition programmer, a rotating cupola which provides hunter-killer capabilities, and commander and gunner stabilised day / night sights with third-generation thermal cameras.
The IFV also features a new armour package with increased protection against top-attack weapons and mines, and defensive aids suite (DAS) with laser warner and smoke grenades.
