The US Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded a contract to Triumph to provide M777 howitzer bodies in support of BAE Systems’ contract with the Indian Government.
Valued at $15m, the contract with DoD requires Triumph to supply gun bodies for the BAE Systems-built 155mm 39-calibre towed gun platform.

The howitzers will be supplied to the Indian Army through a foreign military sale between the governments of the US and India.
Earlier in January, BAE Systems received a $542m DoD contract to deliver 145 M777 ultra-lightweight howitzers to the Indian Army.
Triumph Precision Components executive vice-president Rick Rosenjack said: “We are pleased to continue our staunch relationship with BAE in support of the M777 Howitzer…and extend our support for the platform as it expands operations in India.”
The Indian Army will join US, Canadian and Australian forces in possessing the ultra-lightweight M777 howitzers.

By GlobalDataTo date, Triumph Precision Components produced more than 1,000 gun bodies for BAE’s M777 platform.
Weighing less than 10,000lbs, M777 is claimed to be highly mobile on land, at sea and in the air.
The M777 has increased survivability through unsurpassed tactical and strategic mobility, low thermal and radar signature, rapid emplacement / displacement and low silhouette capabilities, BAE stated.
It has been selected by the US Marine Corps and US Army as their next-generation medium force weapon.
