IAP Worldwide Services has secured a contract from the US Army to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) pilot and flight operations support.

The $72m contract has been awarded under the Rapid Response Third Generation (R23G) contract vehicle.

This R23G contract is managed by the Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) in Maryland, US, and executed in Afghanistan.

Under the contract, IAP will support ISR pilot and flight operations for the Fixed Wing Project Office overseas.

Work under the contract will be backed by Avenge, a company that provides airborne ISR flight operations and training worldwide.

The US Army Fixed Wing Project Office in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, provides lifecycle acquisition management for the army's fixed-wing special electronic mission aircraft (SEMA) fleet of ISR aircraft.  

The army aviation's SEMA fleet can carry out surveillance at both operational and tactical levels during conflicts.

The EO-5, RC-12 and B-300, which provide real-time intelligence collection in peace and wartime environments, are classified as SEMA by the US Army.
