The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has plans to equip its infantry units with new tools and weaponry to enhance its combat unit capabilities in counterterror operations, as well as urban and guerrilla warfare.

The new weaponry includes a tactical sniper rifle, the HTR 2000, which has a range of over 1,000m, according to the Focus Information Agency.

The IDF has also purchased Polaris all-terrain vehicles to transport heavy weapons in the battlefield and to move wounded troops.

The troops will undergo training on handling explosives in order to carry out autonomous demolition and sabotage operations independently.

Some infantry units have been currently equipped with sharpshooters and Tiger, an Israeli-made armoured fighting vehicle, and have also deployed the Matador, a shoulder-launched missile.
