The Canadian Army has placed restrictions on the use of almost 300 light utility vehicle wheeled (LUVW) trucks due to safety concerns, as the turrets could become loose.
The Canadian Army has known about the problem since 2008 and is in the process of fixing it on 287 trucks.
Canadian Army spokesman Major Martell Thompson said modifications to the vehicles were currently taking place and were expected to be complete by March 2011.
“More than 700 vehicles in the LUVW fleet are unaffected and available for domestic operations, humanitarian missions and training,” he added.
The LUVWs, also known as G-Wagons, are heavily used for training in Canada by both regular forces and reserve units, according to Ottawa Citizen.
