Lockheed Martin has received a contract to continue the management of millions of military equipment parts used by the UK Armed Forces.
Awarded by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), the new £18m contract extends the MoD’s use of the company’s joint asset management and engineering solutions (JAMES) for an additional six years.

Used by the UK Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force, JAMES enables quick identification of the status, availability, condition, ownership, location, and quantity of equipment, large or small.
The logistics technology can also be used to track how many miles a vehicle has been driven or how many shots a weapon has fired.
Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training Training and Logistics Solutions transformational logistics lead Andy Shaffer said: "By improving the capability and functionality of JAMES, it has become a vital tool for the UK military to allow them to make the right decisions, quickly and effectively.
"The system has brought a number of benefits over the last decade, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the MoD under this new six-year contract."

First selected by the MoD in 2004, JAMES’ software has since been upgraded to manage an increasingly complex portfolio, and currently handles more than ten million transactions every month carried out by over 27,000 users.
UK MoD Support Chain Information Services Transformation Projects deputy head group captain Andrew Mickleburgh said: "I’ve seen the JAMES technology prove its worth time and again.
"It is seen as a force multiplier by the front line command user community, and there is no doubt that the planning and decision support capability JAMES provides will show ever-increasing utility in the years ahead."
JAMES is jointly managed by a team based in Warminster in Wiltshire, UK, and a team in Orlando, Florida, US.
