Built in October 1918, Fort Benning supports more than 120,000 active-duty military, family members, reserve component soldiers, retirees, and civilian employees on a daily basis.

The installation serves as home to the US Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, the US Army Armor School, US Army Infantry School, the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, elements of the 75th Ranger Regiment, 3rd Brigade-3rd Infantry Division, and several additional tenant units.
